Many People Have Told Me They Would Want To Listen To A DJ Than Karaoke But Then I've Herd It The Other Way Around So I Want The People Of Karaoke Junkies What They Think
Karaoke Rules!!!! Give me Karaoke every day of the week!!! Although there are those nights (usually I'm sick or have lost my voice) where I'm not up for karaoke so I go looking for a band or DJ. I would say that both are good to be available to choose from at different venues each night.
My husband and I have hosted several private parties, anything from wedding receptions, birthday and retirement parties to holiday celebrations for companies and we provide both karaoke and music...and usually the karaoke is what people want. It's addictive! We shared hosting a huge Christmas party this year with a DJ and it started out with the DJ playing music while everyone was eating...then the karaoke took over. People love the opportunity to be part of the entertainment. I agree with Amanda...Karaoke rules!!!
Karaoke is really the obvious amswer to that question. I find that most DJ's are just plain boring and offer no real excitement to a show. I currently offer my listeners over 4,000,000 regular song tracks, but it never fails, the karaoke always takes over any event or venue I play. And honestly, out of the 4,000,000 regular song tracks, they always seem to request the same 10 or 20 songs every time. LOL I actually tell my customers if they want to spend money on a DJ, just to make a good mix cd, buy a boom box and have at it. Why waste hundreds of dollars on someone who just stands there with a blank stare and plays music. If you want an event to be memorable, then you need to hire an entertainer, not just a music man.
I love karaoke but if I can't stand the sound system I feel like I've been mislead and wasted my time driving there. It doesn't have to be a world class system but it's nice when the person running it knows how to EQ it so it doesn't hurt your ears, Right?
I would have worded the question diffrently. Obviously, this is a matter of opinion, so I'm assuming that you really mean, 'which do you prefer?'. Also, since you include 'DJ' in your screen name, I wonder why you came to a karaoke site to ask such a loaded question. But, since you ask, my answer is: it depends. If my spouse wants to dance, we go where there's a DJ playing what we like to dance to. If we want to sing, we go to one our preferred KJ's shows.
This is my opinion, and I speak for no one but myself.
Tater, I do not believe a word that you have posted here. I've been to your 'show', and I'm sure you wouldn't remember me, as we left after finally getting to sing one song each (after you and your buddies sang at least twice each). Also, you're not going to endear yourself to most of the karaoke folks around here by knocking other hosts and companies. especially when it's obvious that you don't get around to other shows much.
Sorry about the rant, folks. Just my $.02.
