Events section

Well, thanks to certain KJs using the events section as their own personal spam generator, Becstra has taken down the events section of this site. I don't blame her, I was getting sick of the spam, too. Becstra provides us with a place to list our weekly shows, at no cost. I hope that, eventually, the events section will return.

Since there is no events section, I'll announce an event here. I'd like to host an event in the spring. I've hosted two karaoke 'summits ' here in Richmond, for a great group of karaokians I've known online for a long time. We had a great time, so I'd like to host a local Karaoke Summit.
Here's what has worked :

Location: local hotel conference room
I prefer this arrangement because usually I can get a block of rooms
at a discounted rate, removing driving concerns.

Cocktail hour
cash bar opens at 6pm
Dinner
buffet opens at 7pm
Karaoke
fixed rotation begins at
8pm

In April 2006, we had 50 people from all over the US, Canada, and England. (not everyone sang, so the rotation was manageable).
When I received a persons summit fee (to cover costs of room/food), their name went on the rotation list.

I think that's a GREAT idea!!! I've put the Events section back up (don't worry, any events you had posted are still there), but please use it to advertise special events, like the kids karaoke or this event you're talking about. If you just want people to know about your regular schedule, go to the Find Karaoke Tonight tab at the top and update/add your shows there.

I guess I was one of those KJs guilty of adding events, but since my last event, I have noticed that not much happens on this site. I looked forward to seeing Karaoke One's and King Richard's events listed....at least it was something new to read. And if you are a Karaoke Junkie, don't you enjoy ANYTHING that involves karaoke? I
do! I have tried the Find Karaoke site...it's okay, but not like the events that were listed on karaokejunkies.
